After seeing the street art and famous pubs on Edgewood Avenue South-east, guests may get a bite to eat at The Municipal Market. The market is known as "Atlanta's historic gem" by the tour organisation, and its vendors sell everything from soul food and West African cuisine to Asian street food and barbeque.
The small group tour, operated by Roundabout Atlanta Tours and Transportation and departing from the Atlanta Marriott Marquis at 9:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. on Thursdays through Mondays, is limited to a maximum of 12 people, making for a more personal and informative experience.
A recent visitor said, "The tour guide was very good on historical dordle knowledge and kept us informed and amused throughout the trip," and that it "was emotional to [visit the] Martin Luther King [sites], seeing his birthplace and tomb." One participant said that the tour leader and group were able to bond more easily because of the modest size of the excursion. The best part was seeing the black communities in ATL's SW quadrant and visiting the Martin Luther King Jr. sites along Auburn Avenue.
After analysing the number of bookings, the percentage of reservations that included a review, and the average review rating for each of Viator's hundreds of tours, the Atlanta Black History tour emerged as the clear winner. Charleston's Hidden Alleyways and Historic Sites Small-Group Walking Tour and Arlington National Cemetery Tour with Changing of the Guards both made the list of the top 20 U.S. tours.
