Search jobs by job type or job category. Apply for the categories you are interested in and for which you are well qualified. For example, if you have experience in retail or counter sales, apply for a job in the sales category.

Check the working hours Some jobs have a normal 9-5 but some may have evening shifts which may not suit all candidates. If you have a family, night/evening shifts can be difficult for your family, so keep that in mind. Part-time work should also be considered if you are looking for extra cash.

Find a job close to home. If you live far from your desired job, consider how long it would take you to get to work, as this may affect your work performance and government jobstransportation costs.

It is also important to look at the required years of experience. Some employers are looking for freshers while others will need experienced candidates. Always be on the lookout for employers who want your level of experience, trust me they are out there.

Search for the desired salary. If the salary offered is lower than what you want, you don't apply for the job. Employers resent interviewing candidates who ask for a higher salary than what was stated in the job description. The ideal salary is one that allows you to pay all your expenses and have some savings left over. But don't turn down jobs because of the salary, sometimes the experience is worth it!

Another mistake is to apply for a job for which you are not academically qualified. When an employer requires 10th standard and you have a college degree, you are definitely overqualified for the job.
