Power Skills for Success: Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and AI Literacy

In the rapidly changing world of work, technical expertise alone is no longer enough. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023 listed analytical thinking, collaboration, and AI literacy as the most in-demand skills for the next five years (WEF, 2023). In India too, the push for digital transformation under initiatives like Digital India and Skill India means that young professionals must not only code or calculate but also question, connect, and adapt.

UNDP’s Revised Evaluation Policy

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has released its revised Evaluation Policy, effective 2025. It strengthens accountability and transparency in global development. For India, this policy holds deep relevance. The previous policy, adopted in 2016, was largely inward-looking. It focused on strengthening the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) and ensuring evaluations met global UNEG standards. It set the ground rules but was limited in ambition.

India at 130: Human Development in an Unequal World

The 2025 Human Development Report was released on 6 May 2025 in Brussels. It marks 35 years since the Human Development Index (HDI) was first introduced in 1990. Why does it matter? HDI is not just a number. It is a yardstick of dignity. It captures how long people live, how much they learn, and how much income they earn. GDP counts goods. HDI counts lives.

AI for Public Good and Inclusive Rural Development

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly recognized as a driver of inclusive growth, particularly in rural areas where service delivery gaps persist in healthcare, education, agriculture, and governance. For AI to truly serve as a public good in India and beyond, it must rest on three essential pillars: Accessibility, Affordability, and Adaptability.
