Improving the taste of cat food - how to make sure your cat likes her healthy food

In order to have a healthier cat, you have decided, after much thought and discussion with your veterinarian, to change your cat's diet. But knowing that you own a fussy and picky cat, you wonder if there is anything you can do to help your cat grow to like her new diet.

At first you should introduce the food slowly and steadily, sudden and abrupt changes can force even the most easy-to-please cat to refuse food for a day or two, even if they are hungry. That's the last thing you want, because experts believe that a starving cat is at higher risk of developing fatty liver disease, and the fatter the cat, the higher the risk.

In addition to gradually changing food, here is a list of things you can do to improve the taste of your cat's new food:

  1. Add a pinch of salt.

  1. Food with a strong smell is tempting. Mix in some scented cat food or some meaty baby food (no onions!).

  1. Add moistened cat treats.

  1. Change the texture slightly, if it is minced, add some pieces of meat, raw meat or fish (mackerel, salmon, tuna).

  1. Mix in a teaspoon of old food or replace old food, omitted food loses its preferred aroma and texture.

  1. Add warm water, homemade beef or chicken stock and rabbit food in bangladesh heat the dish in the microwave or steam.

  1. Try adding a different flavor or formula, or add some beef tallow preserves. Mix different consistencies – wet and dry, canned pumpkin, ground sardines, tuna or clam juice.
