The past year hasn't been good to Blizzard Entertainment on the PR front. The release of Diablo 4 Gold isn't doing the company any favors , thanks to its high-priced microtransactions that compete with games such as Star Wars Battlefront 2 or GTA Online. Players are spending thousands of dollars to get access to Diablo 4's Legendary Gems and upgrade their characters to be able to advance in any meaningful fashion, and also have a chance of fighting other players. However, one player has having a go at this and is turning it on its head due to their large collection of World of Warcraft currency, which they're changing to general Blizzard currency for use in the game's upcoming expansion.
Diablo 4 Diablo 4 is the latest release in Blizzard's legendary Diablo series, set in the dark world of Sanctuary and serves as the home of an array of angels, heroes, and demons. Diablo 4 is set between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 and sees players join series regular Deckard Cain on a quest to locate the shattered chunks left of Worldstone before a catastrophe strikes Sanctuary. Also, players must fight with the forces of Skarn an ex-lt. to the franchise's title villain who is the brains behind the threat to Sanctuary.
The player in question, who's taking advantage of the World of Warcraft gold stockpile in Diablo 4. goes by the handle Naecabon according to GamesRadar. Naecabon made the announcement in a long Reddit post with the username of daymeeuhn. they discussed the possibility of converting roughly 600 million Warcraft gold they saved up to buy $50.000 World of Warcraft tokens to be used in the MMO's auction house. The tokens can then be traded in for $15 toward your Blizzard Balance. Naecabon explained that after they realized how the conversion was working and how it worked, they decided to develop a "gold whale" character in Diablo 4 to "dunk" on all "cash whale" players in PvP.
Naecabon claimed that this method is turning out to be a massive success on their part with their character consistently taking on this "cash whales" by using "scary efficiency." They claimed that one of these players is streamer jtisallbusiness, who claims to have spent approximately $100k playing Diablo 4 since the game's launch.
When a video game is termed "pay-to-win" as a result of the greater group of players, they will usually seek out methods of playing the game so that they spend as much as is possible. Naecabon's experience in Diablo 4 is one such instance of this. Diablo 4 has been plagued since the game's release with tales of players who spent over $10.000 in cheap Diablo 4 Gold to upgrade their characters to allow them to play PvP as well as the final game. This method of gaming the system is known to the public and has been exposed to the public, the ball is in Blizzard's court and many are waiting to see if it addresses the trick or adjusts the system of conversion in any meaningful way.
